(As voted by Absolute Radio listeners) Serious road traffic collision leaves male cyclist in a critical, but stable condition MERSEYSIDE Police Officers from the force's Road Policing Team attendance a serious road traffic collision on the East Lancashire Road, Knowsley, on Wednesday, 27 May 2015. The Traffic Officers were called to the East Lancashire Road, at its Junction with Coopers Lane, to reports of a collision between a car and a bicycle. The male cyclist, who is believed to be in his 20's, was been taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries described as critical, but stable. The female driver of the Astra, that was also involved in the collision, stopped at the scene and is assisting Police with their enquiries. Officers are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed this collision and officers are particularly keen to speak with a motorists who stopped immediately after the collision, but left before they spoke with Officers. Southport law firm's conveyancing division reports record £3.1million growth A high growth Southport conveyancing business has its sights set on breaking the £10million barrier over the next 12 months after revealing record growth of £3.1m in its latest annual results. The conveyancing division of Birchall Blackburn Law, which has offices on Cambridge Road in Southport, says growth in the housing market has created record demand. Conveyancing turnover from instructions across the UK has grown from £4.5million to £7.6million, a rise of 68%, with the firm now receiving over 2,000 conveyancing instructions per month. The firm has recently launched a new conveyancing apprenticeship scheme with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) as it looks to attract new conveyancers to its 160 strong team. James Boyd, chief executive of Birchall Blackburn Law's conveyancing team, said:- "It's been a phenomenal year for the division, beating our target of 50% growth. Clients want a service built on quality, speed and communication; and we have built our entire philosophy around this. We've seen consistent growth in the housing market for some time and with the general election done and dusted we expect the momentum to grow. Over the past 12 months, we also formed strategic partnerships with estate agents, mortgage brokers and finance providers. We are in a good position to break the £10million turnover barrier by April 2016. Demand has never been so high." STAFF and students at King George V College invite you to the grand opening of the College's £4 million Arts Space. To mark the opening, on Saturday, 6 June 2015, the College will host the College's annual Summer Festival, which will feature an exhibition of work by the College's Art and Design students, a market fair, and fun and activities for families. The new Arts Space will be the home of creative arts subjects, and will also accommodate other A-Level students. The building will provide some of the best facilities in the area, including a lecture theatre for up to 120 people, which can also be used as a performance space.
Principal Adele Wills said:- "The new building is fantastic and demonstrates how committed the college is to providing the very best facilities for its students and staff. It's a huge space, and provides spacious and bright teaching areas, and a 1st class environment in which to learn and to teach. The building will house the music and music technology departments, which includes individual and group practice rooms, a recording studio and a control room. Film and Media students will have a new film studio, while the lecture theatre can also be used as a cinema space. Current and future students will reap the benefits of this remarkable new addition, which complements our recently refurbished laboratories, learning centre and canteen."
Staff from all of the College's departments will be available on the day to discuss courses, and there will be an opportunity for prospective students to apply for a place. Along with the opening of the new building, you will be able to watch a performance from the College's production of 'Grease', performances from Music and Music Technology students, as well as a special Mandela Tribute from students from Linaker's Primary School. Local businesses have been invited to sell their produce at King George V College Market Fair. These include the:- 'Crackled Pig', 'The Little Boutique', 'Henry's Deli', 'The Pampered Chef', 'Strong's Fruit and Veg' and many more.
