Commissioner's "How much" campaign takes to the road THE
Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw will be
out and about in the New Year chatting about his policing priorities
and asking people how much they are willing to pay for the police.
The Commissioner launched this year's As How Much campaign in late
            November and has been seeking people's views on the police precept;
that's the part of the Council tax that helps fund policing across
the County. He's asking people if they want to freeze the precept,
            increase it by 6p a week (2%) or by 15p a week (5%).

More than 2,000 people from all over the county have already had
their say either through an online survey on the Commissioner's
website, on surveys placed in police enquiry desks and libraries or
via a telephone poll undertaken by an independent research company.

But Mr Grunshaw is hoping to engage with people who may not usually
respond to such consultations by meeting them shopping centres. He
said:- "I've been really pleased with the responses we have
had so far. We have used social media and email marketing to try and
reach a much larger number of people this year. But there are still
people we won't have spoken to and I am hoping that by going to a
place where they may feel more familiar such as a shopping centre,
then that would encourage more people to chat to me. I want to get
as many views from people as possible so that my decision genuinely
reflects the majority view of the people of Lancashire."

Shoppers will be able to meet the Commissioner on the following 4
            days:-

 ► Tuesday, 13 January 2015, from 11am until 2pm, at the Lancaster
Market Gate Shopping Centre - Lancaster, Lancashire LA1 1JF.

            lancashire-pcc.gov.uk where
there is a link to the survey on the front page.

► By picking up a leaflet from their nearest Police Enquiry Desk.

► By phoning the Commissioner's office and asking for a survey to be
sent to their own address. The number is:- 01772533587.

The online survey will close in early January, but views generated
at the events will still be considered as part of the overall
            consultation feedback

The Commissioner will present his proposals to the Police and Crime
Panel at its next meeting on Monday, 26 January 2014.
 A&E
staff won't kiss it better - it's for real emergencies THE NHS
doctors and nurses are asking people to "Examine your options
before using Accident and Emergency departments." Angela Kelly, Interim Director of Nursing and Quality at
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust said that:- "We are not
saying don't use A&E. We are saying use A&E wisely. Many people who
arrive at A&E, particularly by ambulance following a 999 call, do
need hospital care and will be seen immediately. However, there are
others whose care needs could be met just as well by their GP, a
pharmacist or by treating the symptoms themselves. A&E is for people
facing life-threatening and serious emergencies such as serious
accidents, serious burns, breathing problems, heart attacks and
strokes. Please keep our staff free for them."   Angela said coughs, colds, sore throats, upset stomachs, general
aches and pains, and flu will usually clear up on their own. Keep
warm, drink plenty of fluids and, if appropriate, treat with over
the counter painkillers such as paracetamol.  Contact a GP or a
GP out of hours service for help with injuries or illnesses that
won't go away.   Local pharmacies and NHS

Choices are also a good source
            of information and advice.
"Trust clinics providing sexual health services operate at a reduced
service over the New Year. For further information
            visit the Isis

website, our one stop sexual health
service, for opening times or telephone:- 01704 513303."
            added Angela.

Don't let the cold weather cost you points and a fine this winter!
             AS the
countdown to the New Year continues and it gets harder to get up in
the morning, a North West Solicitors is warning people that driving
off without fully clearing your windows could cost you your licence.
Forster Dean Solicitors which has 27 offices across the region is
offering the advice as part of its campaign to raise awareness
around motoring offences this Christmas. Staff have been into
schools to talk about road safety, signed up to Brake's 30mph pledge
and are supporting the anti drink driving campaign this festive
            season.
Head of Motoring Law at Forster Dean Solicitors Alison Ashworth
said:- "Many people are just unaware that they are committing
an offence, whether it's driving too soon the next morning after a
Christmas party, leaving their car unattended while the windows
clear, or driving off when they know they should take more time to
clear snow off their windows. We really need to address that. Our
aim is to raise awareness over these common issues particularly at
Christmas and New Year, a time when people eat, drink and are merry
and then running late! If the state of your windscreen means that
you are unable to clearly see the road ahead then it could result in
three points and a fine. This is particularly worrying for those in
totting up territory; if you already have 9 points or more on your
licence then this offence could tip you over the edge and you could
face a 6 month ban. If the predicted snow and bad weather does hit,
take the time to clear snow and ice from all windows, mirrors,
number plates, and ensure that there is no accumulation of snow on
top of your car. Remember, you might get there late, but at least
            you'll get there safe."

If in any doubt, Forster Dean Solicitors has also set up a free
advice line:- 0333 323 1830, which people can call any time to
discuss their motoring issues and obtain specialist representation
            when needed.

return in 2015. This time Bill Kenwright by special arrangement with

cast also includes David Burilin and Cavin Cornwall. Further casting
            to be announced.

Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright team up again to direct the show,
having been at the helm of other iconic musicals including Blood
Brothers, which they have directed for almost 30 years, and Evita,
on tour and more recently for a limited run at the London Dominion.

Jesus Christ Superstar exploded onto the musical scene in 1971.
Stunning audiences, it changed the face of musical theatre forever.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera tells the story of the
last seven days in the life of Jesus through the eyes of Judas
Iscariot.   This is still as compelling today as it was at
its inception over 40 years ago, Jesus Christ Superstar features
some of musical theatre's most legendary songs from:- 'I Don't
Know How to Love Him', 'Everything's Alright'
and 'Gethsemane' and the infamous:- 'Superstar.'
