- Jon and his best mate, fellow comedian and optimist Matt
'Fordie' Forde, are going on a good old fashioned road trip

Paul Chowdhy PC'S World -
Autumn 2014 Tour to Finish In Southport!
AS Eastern Eye put it, this
"dangerous comic genius" and host of Channel 4's Stand
Up For The Week and LAFTA funniest stand up award winner 2013,
Paul
Chowdhry, continues on his
biggest tour to date and it ends on 21 November 2014 in the
Southport Atkinson! This tour follows on from a 2 week limited run
at the Edinburgh Fringe, with his critically acclaimed show
'PC's World' full of his unique brand of humour. PC may be
his initials, but the relentless world he lives in definitely isn't.
Why do some people find humorous what others consider highly
offensive?
Why has tackling the preconceptions of political
correctness become so contentious?
Paul will address this issue
along with such diverse subjects as the art of attracting women,
jokes cut from his TV appearances, non-existent customer services
and the now unforgettable 1980's in his own inimitable
uncompromising style. It's time to enter PC's World... Critically
acclaimed as the UK's No.1 Asian comedian, Paul Chowdhry has
distinguished himself as one of the most talented and popular acts
to have recently emerged. An established international act, he also
performed tours of Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha,
Amsterdam, Germany, South Africa and headlined the International
Indian Kings of Comedy tour. In 2012 Paul released his debut live
stand up DVD What's Happening White People (Universal Pictures UK).
Paul's talents extends past the realms of stand-up and has also
starred in numerous acting roles in high profile theatrical film
releases including:- 'Swinging With The Finkles'
alongside Martin Freeman and Jerry Stiller, 'Colour Me
Kubrick' with John Malkovick, 'Rogue Trader'
with Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel and 'It Was An Accident' alongside Thandie Newton.

The Liverpool
Academy has hosted Holly Johnson
Photos & report below
are with thanks to
Jo
Forrest.
ON Friday, 24 October 2014,
there was a slightly confusing start to the evening, as
Holly had been moved from the
Liverpool Arena 2 to The Liverpool Academy, in the middle of the
complex, although this had been made public on the website there was
no indication outside the Arena 2 that the venue had changed. A
lovely intimate venue where there was a generally mixed age range of
fans in attendance, as well as many die hard fans of the 80's era.
The stage was dark as the support act appeared, 2 DJ's who played an
unusual range of music, in fact at 1st I thought they were
technicians until I clarified it, they didn't engage with the
audience in any way, which I found rather unusual. Many of the
audience also did not seem to be aware that this was in fact the
support act. After a slightly surreal start came the fantastic
performance by Holly Johnson, who is best known to the Pop music
world as the lead vocalist of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. That band
had massive commercial success in the mid 1980's and they are still
played on the radio today and used on many TV shows.
This show was part of his warm up for the new tour of
the UK and Germany, called:- 'Europa'. The tour comes
hot on the tail of
Holly
Johnson's 1st album to chart in
the UK since his debut 'Blast'. His new album, which
has a special pop promo directed by Chris Shepherd, is called:-
"In And Out Of Love" Of course, he played a few tracks
from this new album in his set, including the title track In and Out
of Love and Europa. Dressed in a black suit, black boots and black
gloves, on a minimalist stage, plus his band. He performed a highly
enjoyable and lively show that was focused on the performance and
not on multiple costume changes and elaborate stage sets. He also
had a minimalist stage, with a takeout coffee cup, water bottle,
large silver kettle, plus his band... He engaged well with the
audience who appeared to enjoy the show immensely. We look forward
to the return of this highly acclaimed artist, whose career has not
only led the way for many acts, but also raised lots of money for
charity, including those in Liverpool.
2 interesting facts about
Holly Johnson:-
1. His legal battle with ZTT Records and its sister publishing
company, Perfect Songs; the result, in the late 1980, is credited as
"setting a legal precedent which rocked the music business."
It resulted in a landmark legal outcome that still today protects
performers and others from unreasonable restraint of trade.
2. Did you know that in 1989, he performed a charity version of
"Ferry Cross the Mersey" which was released in aid of
those affected by the Hillsborough disaster, along with The
Christians, Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden and Stock Aitken Waterman?
The set list was as follows in no specific order:-
Warriors
Pleasuredome
Rage Hard
Love Train
Americanos
Heavens Here
Follow your Heart
Europa
Disco Heaven
Watching the Wildlife
In and Out of Love
Dancing With No Fear
Lonesome Town
Penny Arcade
Atomic City
Relax
2 Tribes
Power of Love
So much it Hurts

Tickets go on sale next week for the 2015
Open Championship
TICKETS will be going on sale next week for the 2015 Open
Championship at St Andrews, where Rory McIlroy will defend his
title. The 144th Open Championship will be played from 12 July to 19
July 2015 over the Old Course and world number one McIlroy will
return to St Andrews as defending Champion after his two-shot
victory over Sergio Garcia and Rickie Fowler at Royal Liverpool in
July. The Open will be played at St Andrews for the 29th time and
the list of champions at the Home of Golf includes some of the
greatest players in the sport's history such as Bobby Jones, Peter
Thomson, Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Tiger
Woods and Louis Oosthuizen, who lifted the Claret Jug in 2010.
Earlier this year, The R&A, which organises The Open, announced an
extension to the exemption of 5 time Open Champion Tom Watson which
will enable him to make his 40th anniversary appearance in The Open
at St Andrews next year. Ticket prices are being kept the same in
2015 for concessions and accompanied children aged under-16 will
continue to enjoy free entry to the Championship. After being frozen
for this year's Open, the price of an adult daily ticket will go up
by £5 to £70, if purchased before 31 May 2015, and £80 thereafter.
If a ticket is purchased before 31 May, the £70 price represents a
£10 increase on the 2010 daily ticket price. Weekly tickets, valid
from Sunday 12, July to Sunday 19 July 2014, inclusive, are
available for £240, a saving of £125 on the daily ticket prices for
the full week. Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, Executive Director of the
Championships, at The R&A, said:- "We are very much looking
forward to the return of The Open to St Andrews next year. There is
always a special atmosphere at St Andrews and we will be working
hard to deliver an outstanding experience for spectators once again.
With Rory McIlroy defending the Claret Jug and Tom Watson making
what is likely to be his final appearance in The Open, there will be
no shortage of drama and emotion for the galleries. It promises to
be a fantastic week of world class golf." Tickets for The
2015 Open go on sale on Tuesday, 4 November 2014. To purchase
