	 Designs for major new
Cancer Hospital to go on show

THE designs for a major new
specialist Cancer Hospital that will serve the whole of Merseyside and
Cheshire when it opens in 2019 are to go on public exhibition this month in
preparation for the application for full planning permission.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is holding 3
exhibitions; in Liverpool, Wirral and Aintree; to show people the designs
	and hear their views.

The new 11 floor hospital will be built on West Derby Street in Liverpool
City Centre, on the same site as the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and
	the University of Liverpool.

Representatives from The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, its construction
partners Laing O'Rourke and architects for the build, BDP, will be on hand
to discuss the design and other aspects related to the application for
planning permission, which will be submitted at the end of 2015.

The mobile exhibition will be at:-

►  19 October 2015, from 12pm to 7pm, at the Paradise Street, Liverpool (near
	Liverpool 1).

	►  30 October 2015, from 12pm to 7pm, at the Aintree Shopping Park, L9 5AN.

	►  2 November 2015, from 11am to 6pm, at the Asda Bromborough, Wirral, CH62 3QP.

People will also be able to see information and give their views at:-

	TansformingCancerCaremc.NHS.UK, from 19 October to 13 November 2015, and
at events in The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's site in Wirral and the
Clatterbridge Cancer Centre radiotherapy unit on the Aintree hospital site.

As the region's specialist cancer trust, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
serves the whole 2.3m population of Merseyside and Cheshire providing highly
advanced treatment and carrying out groundbreaking research. Its expansion
into central Liverpool; in addition to its existing sites in Wirral and
Aintree; will enable it to further improve treatment for the most complex
and seriously ill patients, and to carry out early phase trials of new
	treatments.

The new hospital will provide the full range of specialist non-surgical
cancer care including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, imaging, outpatients,
support services and inpatient beds. It will have a dedicated Teenage and
	Young Adult unit.

Proposals for the cancer centre were approved following extensive public
consultation in 2014, with nine in 10 respondents supporting them. They are
part of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's £155m investment in Transforming
Cancer Care, which includes redeveloping and refurbishing its Wirral site.

Andrew Cannell, Chief Executive of Transforming Cancer Care, said:-
"We are delighted that we will be applying for full planning permission by
the end of this year for this major new Cancer Hospital, which will
transform cancer care for people in Merseyside and Cheshire for generations
to come. The exhibitions and information on the website are a fantastic
opportunity for people to see the designs and comment on any aspects related
	to the planning application."

	 Revitalise Award goes to
	Warrington woman
	A Warrington woman, Baroness Helen
Newlove, has been awarded the 2015 Woman of Achievement Award by the
national disabled people's charity Revitalise, which runs the Sandpipers
respite holiday centre in Southport, at a gala ceremony.

Baroness Newlove receives the award in recognition of her tireless
campaigning work for victims of crime since the tragic death of her husband,
Garry, in 2007. She was given a peerage in the 2010 Honours List in
recognition of her efforts to make communities safer for people to live in.

Baroness Newlove takes over from the current holder, disability campaigner
Claire Lomas, who took 17 days to complete the 2012 London Marathon with the
assistance of a robotic suit and raised over £200,000 for spinal injury
	research in the process.

Former winners of the Revitalise Woman of Courage or Achievement Award
include Martine Wright, who overcame the horrific loss of both her legs in
the 7/7 terrorist bombings of 2005 to rebuild her life and compete at the
London 2012 Paralympics, and Katie Piper, whose personal story My Beautiful
	Face inspired millions.

In a break from tradition, a special Revitalise Lifetime Achievement Award
was presented to Baroness Stedman Scott, in recognition of her work as
former CEO of the national employment charity, Tomorrow's People. She was
made a peer in 2010 and is now Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords.

The 33rd Annual Revitalise Women of the Year luncheon and awards ceremony
took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, NEC on 9 October 2015.
In excess of 500 guests were treated to a gourmet meal and a fashion show
courtesy of Hobbs before the presentation of the awards.

The gala event was in support of the charities Revitalise, which operates
the Sandpipers Centre in Southport, and Tomorrow's People. Proceeds from the
event will be divided between the 2 charities.

Twycross Zoo CEO and world renowned zoologist Dr Sharon Redrobe scooped the
Revitalise Business Woman of the Year Award in recognition of her leadership
	of Twycross Zoo in Warwickshire.

Revitalise Trustee Linda Beaney, one of the keynote speakers, said:-
"Huge congratulations to Helen, Deborah and Sharon on your achievements
today. You are all so deserving of your awards and have provided a fantastic
example for people everywhere to follow. On behalf of Revitalise, I would
like to thank all the women here at this fantastic event for your support of
Revitalise. In its three decades this event has raised around half a million
pounds for our vital work. Your generosity will help us to continue and
expand our vital work supporting disabled people and carers from the North
	West and across the UK."

Pauline Edden, Board Director of the Revitalise Woman of the Year Awards,
said:- "These incredible women are fully deserving of their awards.
Women face many obstacles in life, but Helen, Deborah and Sharon really
stand out as examples of what can be achieved."

The Revitalise Women of the Year Awards honour women's outstanding
individual achievement in all professions. In addition to the Revitalise
Woman of Achievement Award, the Revitalise Businesswoman of the Year Award
recognises outstanding achievement in the sphere of business and provides
positive role models to encourage other women to enter the business arena.

Revitalise has been a beneficiary of the awards since the event's
foundation. Revitalise is a national charity providing respite holidays for
disabled people and carers, with 24 hour nurse led care on call and personal
support, at Sandpipers in Southport and two other accessible Centres in
Essex and Southampton. All of Revitalise's Centres offer a wide range of
activities and excursions. For more information visit:-
