Local mum steps up to
charity boxing challenge for Liverpool Women's Hospital
MARIA Spindlow, from Winsford, will be
competing in this year's leading IT channel event, CRN Fight Night, raising
money for the Liverpool Women's Hopsital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Maria will be taking part in the white collar boxing event on the 21 May 2015
representing Comms-care, the Cheshire based IT Support Company, as their first
ever female fighter. Maria also has the tough challenge of maintaining Comms-care's
undefeated title at the boxing event, as well as raising as much money as
possible for her chosen charity.
Maria "The Fear" Spindlow commented on preparing for the boxing event,
"Being able to represent Comms-care in the ring at CRN Fight Night and raise
money for the Neonatal Unit at Liverpool Women's Hospital is a fantastic
opportunity for me. The Neonatal Unit provided my son with
lifesaving medical care when he was born 4 years ago after a very difficult
birth, he's now a happy, healthy 4 year old and it's now time to say thank you
to all at Liverpool Women's hospital by raising much needed funds for their
charity."
Money raised on the night from auctions and ticket sales, as well as Maria's
fundraising efforts prior to the event will go to the Neonatal Unit at Liverpool
Women's Hospital.
Lisa Masters, Fundraising Manager at Liverpool Women's Hospital, said:-
"We're extremely grateful that Maria has chosen to raise money for the hospital,
albeit in quite a unique way. We're delighted that Maria and her family were so
happy with the care that they received on our Neonatal Unit."
The CRN Fight Night takes place on 21 May 2015, at London's leading boxing venue,
The Brewery and Maria will be taking on her opponent, Dagmara Wojciechowska from
Kelway in front of a 500 strong crowd.

Southport's Parliamentary
Hopefuls to meet at McCarthy and Stone Hustings Event
6 parliamentary hopefuls bidding for
the Southport constituency will go head to head in a battle to win the votes of
the Town's retirees later this month.
In the hot seat will be Liberal Democrat candidate, John Pugh, local Councillors
Damien Moore of the Conservative Party, and Labour's Liz Savage, UKIP contender
Terry Durrance, Jacqueline Barlow from the independent Southport Party, and
Laurence Rankin of the Green Party. Each will each get the chance to present
their policies at a special pre-election countdown event.
McCarthy and Stone, the UK's leading
retirement housebuilder, will stage the hustings in Southport on 24 April 2015, less
than 2 weeks before the polls open.
The 'question time' style event will take place at 11am to 12.30pm, and is
open to all.
Places are limited so confirmation of attendance is essential to guarantee a
place for this event. To R.S.V.P you should send an
email, as all places will be
issued on a 1st come 1st serve basis. Any specific questions for the
candidates should also be submitted in advance.
Venue details will be sent to attendees upon
confirmation of their place.
Each candidate will begin with a 5 minute speech before being asked to comment
on specific concerns about Southport, with opportunities for questions from the
floor and debate with fellow opponents.
Some of the topics under scrutiny will include the economy, health, education,
housing and crime and immigration.
Steve Secker, Regional Managing Director for
McCarthy and Stone Northern, who will be chairing the event, comments:-
"The hustings will provide a unique opportunity for the people of Southport to
hear what their parliamentary candidates have to say, and to challenge them to
be accountable to the views of local people. I strongly encourage people to join
us on 24 April for what is sure to be an informative and lively afternoon of
debate.
Having experienced great success in the Southport area since the launch of our
Brunlees Court development in January, this event is exactly the kind of thing
we want to do to engage and excite the Southport community. Voters will have the
chance to meet and question candidates who are in the running to be the next MP
for Southport, as we countdown to polling day on 7 May 2015."
The special event will also provide an
opportunity for those interested in finding out more about life in a McCarthy
and Stone Retirement Living development to take a tour of some of the new show
apartments, and meet with the experienced Estates Team to learn about the
flexible care packages available.
McCarthy and Stone's Assisted Living developments aim to bridge the gap between
conventional Retirement Living and residential care. Homeowners are able to
retain independence in the form of home ownership, with their very own front
door, yet still have the peace of mind of a range of additional 24/7 security
and support services.
To book your place at the McCarthy and Stone hustings event please
email.
