Grace a Grace!
WANT to be part of a unique experience
that could see your face emblazoned on to Liverpool's iconic Three Graces?
As Liverpool prepares to make maritime history with the arrival of the:- '3 Cunard
Queens' in May, members of the public are being given the opportunity to become
part of this unforgettable event.
Throughout the May Bank Holiday weekend (24 May to 26 May 2015), technical experts:-
'The Colour Project' will present:- 'Amazing Graces'; a state of the art projection
exploring the spirit of Liverpool.
Taking place each evening from 10pm, this is 1 of the new commissions created
especially for:- 'One Magnificent City' which is the seven week programme of events
celebrating Liverpool and its maritime links.
As part of Amazing Graces there will be a:- 'Sea of Faces' projected onto
the buildings; and organisers are on the hunt for anyone who wants their face
to be part of this unique project.
Arts organisation, Hope Street Ltd is working in partnership with The Colour
Project to find the faces that represent the spirit of Liverpool. That:- 'Sea
of Faces' will be an integral section of the show and the team behind the
event want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to be part of this
stunning artwork.
3 special mini photo shoots have been organised giving people the chance to
turn up, explain why they think Liverpool is a magnificent City and then pose
for a picture. These sessions in a pop up photo booth will take place:-
► Thursday, 5 March 2015, 3pm to 6.30pm, Met Quarter, 35 Whitechapel, Liverpool, L1 6DA.
► Saturday, 21
March and Sunday, 22 March 2015, midday to
4pm, Museum of Liverpool, Pier Head, Liverpool Waterfront, Liverpool, L3 1DG.
Alternatively, people are encouraged to take a
head and shoulders picture of themselves and simply upload it to:-
OoneMagnificentCity.Co.UK. It just needs to be a good quality
picture taken against a plain white background, and once again, in 100 words or
less, the team wants to know why Liverpool is magnificent. The deadline for
online uploads is Friday, 10 April 2015.
Montserrat Gili, Creative Director at Hope Street:- "This promises to be a
once in a lifetime event that will show off the City in a magnificent light! We
want as many people as possible to come forward and get involved and be in with
the opportunity of gracing one of the Three Graces!"
Assistant Mayor and Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism and Events, Councillor
Wendy Simon, said:- "There is already a huge amount of buzz around the May
bank holiday weekend and it's gearing up to be a historic event.
We know that hundreds of thousands of people are going to descend on the region
to get a glimpse of one, or maybe all, of the Cunard Queens sitting majestically
on the River Mersey and we wanted to make the most of that audience.
Amazing Graces is a wonderful way to entertain the crowds each evening. Not only
will the projections be visually stunning, but the story they tell will really
engage with everyone and quite literally shine a light on our heritage and links
with Cunard.
For members of the public to have the chance to be part of the show and have
their faces projected on to one of the most famous waterfronts in the world is
amazing and I'm sure the organisers will be overrun with people who want to be
part of this history-making weekend."
Community groups or organisations which can't make the above dates, but would
like to be part of 'Sea of Faces', can contact Hope Street Ltd on:-
c.producer@hope-street.org. The deadline is 31 March
2015.
Please note, not all photos can be used as part of the projections, but all will
take pride of place on the special online gallery on the:- 'One Magnificent
City'
website.
