The Liverpool Triathlon
returns soon, but are you taking part?
THIS summer more than 1,500 triathletes
of all abilities will race through the iconic Albert Docks, as Tri Liverpool
returns on 26 July 2015. Entries have now at:-
TriLiverpool.com.
Tri Liverpool will be a 1 day festival of the sport set in the heart of the City
of Liverpool and will be based in the impressive surroundings of the Echo Arena,
with a course that takes in some of Liverpool's world famous landmarks.
British Triathlon and Triathlon England are working closely with Liverpool City
Council to transform the profile of the sport in the North West of England by
involving all levels of participation at the event, with the aim of inspiring a
triathlon legacy within the City.
As in previous years, the event also hosts a leg of the British Triathlon Super
Series as well as the British Age Group Standard Distance Triathlon
Championships, British Elite Sprint Triathlon Championships and the British
Youth and Junior Triathlon Championships. Tri Liverpool will also provide the
first opportunity for aspirant members of the Great Britain Age-Group Team to
book their place at the 2016 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Mexico.
Alongside the elites and thousands of age
group competitors battling for British titles, there will also be the chance for
novices to join in the fun, with a beginner's race alongside a corporate relay,
for those looking to create the tri spirit in their workplace.
Members of the Home Nations can purchase a discounted entry for a limited
period. Full details of the entry fees and event distances on offer are
available online.
Last year's event had a host of celebrity participants including former Big
Brother winner, Craig Phillips and Nikki Sanderson of Hollyoaks. The event also
hosted a team of MP's that included Andy Burnham MP, Steve Rotheram MP and
Luciana Berger MP.
Jon Ridgeon, British Triathlon Director for Major and National Events, said:-
"Tri Liverpool has hosted the British Triathlon Championships since 2013 and
the event has gone from strength to strength in that time. The City of Liverpool
is the perfect setting with its historic docks and iconic buildings and athletes
of all abilities can look forward to competing in front of tremendous crowds in
a fantastic location. It really is a great venue and event from which to spread
the triathlon word. Age-groupers will relish the added incentive of Great
Britain Age-Group Team places at the 2016 ITU Triathlon World Championships, and
we expect Tri Liverpool 2015 to be the best yet."
Assistant Mayor of Liverpool and Cabinet member for Culture, Tourism and Events,
Councillor Wendy Simon, said:- "We are thrilled Tri Liverpool returns to
the City in 2015. Liverpool is a City famous for its love of sport and this
event has become a much anticipated part of our calendar. We are sure crowds
will again line the course to cheer on the competitors in the many different
categories, and we look forward to working with the sport to inspire the City of
Liverpool to swim, bike and run themselves."
Tri Liverpool is organised by British Triathlon in partnership with Liverpool
City Council. A highlights show of the event will be broadcast on the UK TV
station, Channel 4.

Southport FC scores with
Moore and Smalley sponsorship
SOUTHPORT Football Club's grass roots
sports scheme is set to flourish after receiving support from a leading
Southport accountancy firm. Moore and Smalley, based in Hoghton Street, has
pledged it's support to the club's Football Community Programme in a move which
will help coach children as young as 2. The donation will support the delivery
of health and fitness coaching, ladies football matches, work experience
schemes, Baby Ballet classes and Weight Watchers meetings at the club's
Merseyrail Community Stadium. James Treadwell, partner at Moore and
Smalley and vice president at Southport FC, said:- "I have had a lifelong
allegiance to Southport FC so when Moore and Smalley was looking to support a
local cause in Southport, sponsoring the club's programme of community
initiatives seemed like the perfect fit. It's so important to support young
sporting talent and you never know what community schemes like this can help
achieve, it could even unearth our sports stars of the future."
Haydn Preece, community and
commercial director at Southport FC, said:- "We want to ensure
the club plays a central role in the community and Moore and
Smalley's support helps us deliver initiatives that do just that."
Southport FC currently plays in the Conference Premier, the 5th tier
in English football, but has aspirations to progress to Football
League status.

A First in British Sport?
THE Club is pleased to announce that
there will be an exciting new addition to the match day hospitality programme
this season. Corporate guests will be offered in depth pre and post match
analysis and insight into match day preparations and expectations in the
Karalius Suite before kick off as well as after the match. New Assistant Coach
and former Man of Steel Brett Hodgson will join the line up of speakers that
already includes Head Coach Denis Betts and Assistant Coach Mick Cassidy. Brett,
Mick and Denis will take time out from their busy match day schedule to talk to
guests in the Karalius Suite and the Board Room pre and post match. On 1 March
2015, Brett will make his debut in the Karalius Lounge ahead of the game against
Wakefield to let supporters know how the pre-match build up has shaped up and
what the plan is for the next 80 minutes. Meanwhile Denis Betts will complete
his work in the sheds and leave the players to undertake their warm up with Jon
Clarke before heading to the Board Room to share his thoughts with corporate
stakeholders. Mick Cassidy will retrace Brett Hodgson's steps within
minutes of the final whistle to offer a raw account of the match. Guests in the
Karalius Suite will get an exclusive insight into the coach's thoughts before
any member of the performance team has spoken to the media. Mick or Brett will
also visit the Board Room post match to share their expert opinion and to review
on-field activity during the game. The coaching panel will be joined by
Vikings Director and Chief Executive James Rule who will offer an off field
perspective on all things Widnes Vikings. James Rule commented:- "I
do not think I am mistaken in suggesting we are the first British sports club to
give corporate guests the opportunity to hear from our Head Coach, Assistant
Coaches, Chief Executive and non-playing players on match day. The most common ocurrence is for supporters to hear the voice of an MC with occasional
soundbites from a player or coach. We recognise the importance of accesibility
as we seek to continue our growth on and off the field. In sharing exclusive
information from our entire coaching team we hope to enhance our corporate match
day offer. Our aim is to provide an unrivalled corporate match-day experience."
