Road to Rio
kicks-off with Continental Tyres
ON 11 March 2014, the proud sponsors of the
FIFA™ World Cup 2014, Continental Tyres set out on a road trip,
taking a little piece of Brazil to football fans across England.
People in every region of the country will be able to
meet Fuleco, the Brazil 2014 mascot, send the England team a message
via a unique photo booth and test their goal scoring prowess to win
official FIFA™ World Cup merchandise.
Continental is also offering the chance for one lucky
person to win a pair of tickets to the FIFA™ World Cup Final in
Brazil, including flights and accommodation; a once in a lifetime
prize for any fan.
To be in with a chance to win, people have to tweet a picture of the
roadshow truck when they spot it and use the hashtag #contiroadtorio.
The roadshow began on 11 March 2014, in Liverpool and
was kicked-off by former Liverpool and England striker Robbie
Fowler.
Robbie Fowler said that:- "It is great that
Continental are doing this, it can really unite everyone to get
behind our boys, sending them messages of support and letting
everyone feel they can be part of the team; plus someone will
actually make it to the final!"
Peter Robb, spokesperson for Continental commented:- "With
Brazil far away and tough for most fans to get to, we're delighted
to be able to bring World Cup fever to locations all over England.
It's going to be a lot of fun."
Robbie, a Road to Rio Ambassador for Continental Tyres, scored
nearly 200 goals, for Liverpool FC and England, and featured in the
2002 World Cup.
He launched the 'Road to Rio' roadshow at the
landmark Albert Docks in Liverpool before visiting Alder Hey
Hospital where he was joined by Fuleco the FIFA World Cup mascot to
hand out replica Fuleco toys to the youngsters.
In the next seven weeks the Continental roadshow will visit hundreds
of locations across England and give thousands of fans the chance to
get involved.
They can send a personalised good luck message to the national team
and to win prizes for themselves; including a trip to Brazil and a
coveted pair of tickets for the FIFA™ World Cup Final on Sunday, 13
July 2014, in Rio.
Details of the whole tour, including the route and updates on
progress will be available at the dedicated
website.
