Get active, take
action and Walk for Tiny Lives: make every step count for children
CHILDREN'S charity Action
Medical Research is launching Walk for Tiny Lives this summer; a
great way to get active and make a difference for sick babies and
children by organising a sponsored walk.
Today's charity events often call on willing supporters to take on
cycling challenges, marathon running or long distance treks. Walk
for Tiny Lives is for those not tempted by, or able to take on,
these challenges. Individuals organise the walk themselves with the
support of the charity; from an amble in a local park to a sunshine
stroll along the beach.
Anyone can take part; from grandparents to babies in buggies. Walk
for Tiny Lives is about getting together, getting active and making
a difference by raising money for a great cause.
Medical research can save and change children's lives. Yet
surprisingly, medical research into conditions that devastate
children's lives is poorly funded. Action Medical Research is
currently funding research into conditions including Down syndrome,
premature birth, epilepsy, meningitis and rare diseases.
The team at Action are on hand to help every step of the way and a
number of materials are available to make organising a walk as easy
as possible.
Jemma Jones, Events Fundraiser at Action Medical Research, says:-
"It really is as easy as putting one foot in front of the other!
By organising your own Walk for Tiny Lives you can combine a great
day out with doing something really positive that may help fund the
next medical breakthrough. So come on grab some friends, rope in
your relatives and get the kids along. Walk for Tiny Lives and make
every step count!"

£3bn Just
Waiting to be Shared Out!
NEARLY 3 million UK
citizens are sitting on a windfall of £3bn; £1000 each, and they
don't even know it... The money is in the form of shares and
dividends that people didn't know or forgot they had, though the
four biggest reasons for assets going unclaimed are:-
► People ignoring post (on average, adults receive 350 items a year)
► Death (1% of the population dies each year, or 50,000 people per
month)
► Emigration (more than 2 million British citizens have emigrated
since 1997)
► Change of address (2.5 million people change address each year)
ProSearch, 1 of the UK's leading investor location and asset
reunification specialists, has reunited almost half a million
investors with funds worth nearly £540 million in the past 5
years. The average amount was £1,000, but the largest single amount
recovered was £348,000. "The good news is that big companies are trying harder to
return money to investors or beneficiaries. The bad news is that
millions of people, frequently deluged by bills and spam, are
completely oblivious to their shareholdings, at a time when most of
us could do with a little windfall. Unclaimed entitlements are frequently valued
in the tens of thousands of pounds. Over time many UK companies were
privatised, merged, rebranded, or otherwise became disengaged from
their owners, while millions of people move, lose paperwork or pass
away, which makes asset reunification an on-going problem for many
large organisations. We strongly urge individuals to take control of
their investments." says Duncan Stevens, MD ProSearch.
One beneficiary, Jennifer Lazenby of Gloucestershire, recently
received a long forgotten cash entitlement. "I had a little
dance around the kitchen when I received my cheque. One gets so many
scam letters that I did look closely at their original contact to
see if there appeared to be any flaws. I was pleasantly surprised
and pleased with the manner in which ProSearch dealt with my unknown
claim."
