Bowling for Bowels A
Southport crown green bowling club is looking for people to take
part in a special Bowl for Bowels fundraising over June 2013.
Members of the Victoria Park Bowling Club in association with the
South West U3A Network are organising a prize charity bowls
competition on Thursday, 20 June 2013, starting at 1.30PM in aid of Beating
Bowel Cancer. Entry £2 a head.
Beating Bowel Cancer works to save lives from the UK's second
biggest cancer killer and all money raised from this fundraising
event will be used to help raise awareness of bowel cancer and
support patients and their families coping with the disease.
Event organiser, Ted Morrell, said:- "Members of both Victoria
Park Bowling Club, Southport and the 12 local U3A Groups welcome
this opportunity to help Beating Bowel Cancer achieve its aims. We
hope for nice weather and a good turn out of players and
spectators."
Community fundraiser, Rachel Thomas, said:- "Bowel cancer is a
disease which affects so many people in the UK and all money raised
at this event will be used to help raise awareness of bowel cancer
and support patients and their families coping with the disease."
Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer because many
patients are diagnosed too late. Each year more than 41,000 people
across the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer. However, if diagnosed
early over 90% of cases could be cured.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact Mr Morrell on:- 01704
